Valentine Sweetheart

Hello friends!

The day is drawing near so I knew I had to get on here and post a couple of Valentine cards!
This card uses Melon Mambo, Marina Mist, Pear Pizzaz and Whisper White cardstock. I rolled the Valentine roller in the SU! IDB&C on the base. I used the Heart of Hearts Embosslit in the Big Shot to create the scalloped, textured heart ... easy! The stamp set is the called Sweetheart and is also in the SU! IDB&C. I used the Scallop Edge punch for the Pear piece. Ink colors were Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight. A bit of white 1/4" grosgrain and we're done!

This one was one from stamp camp. We used the Heart of Hearts Embosslit in the Big Shot to create the white scalloped heart then punched out a heart out of the red glitter paper in the Occasions mini catalog and put it on top. The stamp set used here was also in the mini, a pretty inexpensive but cute flower set with a butterfly called Bold Blossom. We used the stem out of it. The paper is from the mini as well, Love Impressions. I'll post the box and candies made with this paper tomorrow. Card stock color is basic gray and so is the tafetta ribbon. Unfortunately, the tafetta ribbon is retired - WHY? I got the fancy edge on the valentine sentiment by stamping right at the top of the XL fancy favor punch and then just scooting it under. Love that punch :)

I know I've been terrible at posting but I WILL get the box and candies up here. I have a lot to share so this week should be a busy one! :)

The owl strikes again!

Have I said that I just love our owl? He's easy to use, versatile and CUTE to boot!
Here's a card I came up with while thinking of stamp camp ideas. I wanted to use the "With All My Heart" set in a new way and was playing around with color combos. I just love the color combo of Greenhouse Gala so I was playing around with stamping a nice background piece with So Saffron to go with the last card. I thought the So Saffron flowers combined with the flowers on the leaves (on fhe last card) were too "busy" so I put it aside and after finishing that card, came up with this one :) You'll see I used a piece of Greenhouse Gala on it instead.

I love the clean lines and though I was trying to keep it simple, I had to add the extra dimension of the textured Baha Breeze card stock and the Old Olive with polka dots from the Perfect Polka embossing folder for the Big Shot. The owl added the bit of playfulness to the thank you for sure :) His actual "vest" is from a piece of Greenhouse Gala DSP. The ribbon is one of my new faves, the 18" Tafetta ribbon.

Hope you like it!

Hello Again :)

Finally Friday! I got to go down and play in the stamp room tonite while Zach and his Dad played a forgotten Monster Truck game on the old PS2 - just like old times! Nick was at a basketball game and Ethan at Lutherhaven for the weekend. I used to stamp when I could during the day or evening when they would play with toys or watch a video or play PS2 near me. These days, if I'm stampin' I'm always by myself in the basement feeling "left out" since the boys are older and doing something else more fun upstairs or with their Dad.

Okay, enough reminiscing. Now that I think of it though, that's actually why I don't make as many cards these days. I opt to hang with the fam since they are too old to keep busy by Mom :) Also, I'm too tired to stay up super late (remember this is the Stampin' At Night blog which is a play on a favorite tune of mine by R.E.M. - any idea what I'm talking about?) since I get up too early these days to make sure the high schooler gets up and going. Any whooo... back to the card!

I'd like to call this my "scrappy" card! Anyone who knows me well or been down to my stampin' area knows that I cannot stand to throw away a perfectly good scrap, a piece that I might need or find a use for. Well, this piece wasn't a scrap really but I put it in that category. I got the square of the leaves and flowers from Sharon a while ago. I just loved it! Unfortunately, I couldn't remember how she used it on the card she made. So, there it sat waiting for an idea of my own. I figured it out tonite looking for Stamp Camp inspiration. Sometimes, I need to just sit down and craft something totally random to get in the groove... something that has nothing to do with the stamp theme I'm looking for. So, hope you like it!

Two items are not currently in our catalogs but I have an idea to substitute! One is the three flower punch - retired! To make this now, I'd use the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack on pg. 200 of the IDB&C. It comes with 2 other punches which are equally as useful. I use the 4 petal flower in the set for the Season of Friendship frame class coming in Feb. The middle of the flower is just a 1/4 inch handheld punch that you can get at the office supply store. The other retired item was the paper for the flower - use could substitute any patterned DSP that is So Saffron or lighter yellow?

The red is Riding Hood Red, there's Old Olive, the Whisper White piece was run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder - perfect touch! Finally, the DSP is from my favorite DSP pack this catalog - Greenhouse Gala. The leaves are a Sizzlit die, cut using the Big Shot. Ribbon is 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain and last but not least, the "hello" is from a favorite small set of mine, Hello Again on pg. 110 of the IDB&C because sometimes you just want to say "Hello!"

Happy New Year - New card!

I know, what a new card from Kim? Stranger things have happened - life has just been so busy - not that I'm complaining! It's just so hard for me to stay on a Stampin' schedule when I have an active family :) Instead of checking the blog and being disappointed because you don't see a new card, become a "Follower" by scrolling to the bottom left and inserting your email. Then you'll get an email whenever I post, no junk, just a notification :)

I'm preparing for a late January stamp class and a class featuring this set, Season of Friendship, for a framed art/deco class. While procrastinating on the finished sample for the frame, I came up with this card. For the Jan class I want to have options that *could* be a valentine card or could easily be a thank you, thinking of you or wedding for those that don't give out a lot of valentine's but like the look.

Of course I used Season of Friendship which is on pg. 120 of the SU! IDB&C but I also used the sentiment from Simply Said on pg. 63. This is an old favorite of mine that is great for so many reasons! Look for a sample or two here soon and most likely in the Jan class.

Colors used on this card were: Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White cardstocks; Old Olive, Certainly Celery and Early Espresso classic inks. The hearts are one of the three from the Heart to Heart XL punch on pg. 203. The whisper while background piece was rolled through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The ribbon is Whisper White 5/8" satin.

ENJOY!

A simple birthday card!

Hello! I thought I'd post the card I made for Zach's 10th birthday invites. Very simple but cute and he loved them :) I also made him a birthday card and made the dog pop up on the inside with a birthday hat on from the same set the sentiment "party hearty" is from. The set is what do you know, Party Hearty!

I'm realizing that the paper is retired, Jersey Shore I think. The card stock is real red, tempting turqoise and whisper white. The wiener dog is from the hostess set, Long Fellows.

I hope to have some new samples to post using a set from the Occasions mini that debuted today! Have a great day!

P.S. I apologize for the terrible photo!

In case you missed these...
